🌈 SEND at Newhall Infant and Nursery School

    πŸ’¬ Our Commitment

At Newhall Infant and Nursery School, we are committed to ensuring that all children, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), receive the support they need to thrive.

We believe in creating an inclusive, nurturing environment where every child is valued, supported and given the opportunity to reach their full potential. πŸ’›

“Every child deserves an excellent education and the chance to fulfil their potential, whatever their background and needs.”
(Creating Opportunity for All, DfE, 2018)

    πŸ” Identifying SEND

We use a graduated approach to identify and support pupils with SEND:

    • Ongoing teacher assessment
    • Observations and monitoring of progress
    • Discussions with parents/carers
    • Liaison with external professionals where appropriate

If you have any concerns about your child, please speak to your child’s class teacher in the first instance.

🧩 How We Support Pupils with SEND

We provide support through quality first teaching alongside additional interventions where needed.

    This may include:

    • Differentiated learning within the classroom
    • Small group or 1:1 support
    • Targeted interventions
    • Pastoral and wellbeing support
    • Adaptations to the environment and curriculum

We follow the Assess – Plan – Do – Review cycle to ensure support is effective and responsive to each child’s needs.
