Admissions

We are delighted that you are considering Newhall Infant & Nursery School for your child’s education 🌟

At our school, we take great pride in creating a warm, nurturing and welcoming environment for every child and family. This page is here to guide you through the admissions process and help you understand how to apply.

As a Community School, all school place applications (including in-year transfers and appeals) are managed by Derbyshire County Council (LA).

⭐ 1. Starting School – Reception Applications

If your child is due to start school in Reception, applications must be made through Derbyshire County Council:

📅 Key Dates

Please note that dates may vary slightly each year, so we always recommend checking the Derbyshire website for the most up-to-date information:

  • Applications usually open: 10 November
  • Closing date for applications: 15 January
  • National Offer Day: 16 April

⭐ 2. In-Year Admissions (Moving schools during the year)

If you are looking to move your child to our school during the school year (for example, due to relocation), Derbyshire County Council manages this process.

What to expect:

  • The Local Authority coordinates all in-year applications for community schools
  • Decisions are made as quickly as possible, in line with local guidance
